Get more out of your L5P with Sasquatch Diesels TCM tuning on the EZ LYNK platform. When extra horsepower and torque are added to a truck, the factory transmission calibration quickly becomes one of the biggest limits in how that power is delivered. Our TCM tuning is designed to improve shift strategy, transmission behavior, and overall drivability for modified trucks so your transmission works with the added power instead of fighting against it.
Whether your truck is used for off-road performance, towing, or daily driving, proper transmission tuning helps the truck shift more confidently, stay in the powerband more effectively, and better manage the increased torque from engine tuning.

Why TCM Tuning Matters
From the factory, GM transmission tuning is built around a stock power level, stock torque output, stock emissions system behavior, fuel economy targets, comfort targets, and long-term broad-market drivability. That works well on a stock truck. But once power is increased, especially on a truck with other modifications, the stock transmission calibration is no longer ideal for the new torque curve.
The engine may be making significantly more low-end and mid-range torque than the factory transmission strategy was designed around. That can lead to lazy shift behavior, unnecessary gear hunting, soft or drawn-out shifts, poor converter lockup strategy, and added stress under load. In other words, the engine tune may be making more power, but the transmission is still acting like the truck is stock.
That is where TCM tuning makes a major difference.
Benefits of Sasquatch Diesels TCM Tuning
Improved Shift Quality
TCM tuning can deliver firmer, quicker, and more controlled shifts compared to the factory calibration. This helps reduce the soft, vague feeling many tuned trucks have when the stock transmission logic is left unchanged.
Better Control of Added Torque
Higher horsepower tunes create more torque than the stock transmission tune was designed to manage. A revised transmission calibration helps the truck handle that added power more effectively with improved shift timing, clutch application strategy, and overall transmission behavior.
Reduced Slip and Heat
When a transmission is not calibrated properly for increased power, it can spend too much time in soft or drawn-out shifts. That extra slip creates unnecessary heat and wear. Proper TCM tuning helps the transmission behave more decisively, which is especially important on higher power levels.
Better Towing Performance
Even on a lower tow tune, transmission tuning can be a major upgrade. Towing puts a heavy and sustained load on the transmission, and stock shift strategy is often too focused on comfort and fuel economy. A better towing-oriented transmission tune can improve shift timing, hold gears more appropriately, reduce gear hunting, and provide more confident converter lockup behavior under load.
Better Use of Engine Power
A tuned engine makes power differently than a stock one. TCM tuning helps the transmission take advantage of that power by improving when and how the truck shifts. The result is a truck that feels more responsive, more predictable, and more connected.
Improved Driving Experience
One of the biggest benefits of transmission tuning is that the truck simply feels better to drive. Whether you are daily driving, towing, or using the truck in off-road competition applications, a well-calibrated transmission makes the entire setup feel more refined and more capable.
Why Factory Transmission Tuning Is Not Enough on a Modified Truck
Factory transmission tuning is designed as a compromise. It has to work for completely stock trucks, in every climate, with every driving style, while prioritizing emissions compliance, comfort, fuel economy, and liability protection. Once the truck is modified and making more power, those factory priorities do not always line up with what the truck now needs.
With added horsepower and torque, the transmission needs revised calibration to better match:
- the new torque curve
- the increased load placed on the clutches
- the desired shift feel
- towing demands
- throttle response and converter behavior
- real-world use on a tuned truck
That does not mean factory tuning is bad. It means it was never designed for a higher-output setup.
Ideal For
- Trucks running higher horsepower levels
- Trucks used for towing heavy loads
- Trucks that feel soft or lazy on stock transmission calibration
- Modified trucks needing better shift control
- Owners who want the engine tune and transmission tune to work together properly
Important Notes
Transmission tuning does not make a transmission indestructible. Mechanical condition, fluid quality, maintenance, tire size, driving style, and power level all still matter. But proper TCM tuning is one of the most important upgrades for a truck that is making more power than stock.
If you are increasing horsepower, especially on a hard-working truck, transmission tuning should not be treated as an afterthought.
Why Choose Sasquatch Diesels
At Sasquatch Diesels, we offer EZ LYNK-based tuning solutions built for real-world diesel truck use. Our goal is to provide transmission tuning that improves drivability, supports added power properly, and helps the truck perform the way it should when paired with engine tuning.
If you are adding power, your transmission calibration needs to keep up.
